With more than 3000 commercial DC grid installations already in operation, Ferroamp is one of the world leaders in terms of DC grid deployment. By joining the Current OS foundation Ferroamp will be able to expand the ecosystem of compatible products. This will promote the adoption of DC technology through standardization and collaboration.
Ferroamps installations are based on DC technology (Direct Current). DC technology is inherently used in solar cells, batteries, electric vehicles and in Ferroamps patented PowerShare technology. In comparison to AC (Alternating Current) which is the dominating form of electricity distribution today, DC technology provides advantages such as lower losses, better controllability and cost-efficient backup power.
- We see an increasing interest from our customers to use DC technology in their facilities. By expanding the ecosystem of compatible DC products, our customers will be able to use their investments in DC grids for even more applications. Joining the Current OS foundation is an important step for us to expand this ecosystem, in addition to our present activities in international standardization around DC technology. Björn Jernström, CTO Ferroamp.
The Current OS foundation was founded by Schneider Electric and Eaton as a non-profit, open, independent organization for the promotion and adoption of active DC Microgrids based on the Current OS protocol.
- We are very happy to announce that Ferroamp has decided to become an Adopter of the Current OS Foundation. Ferroamp is a Swedish manufacturer of high-quality DC based products. Michiel Arnoldy, Current OS foundation.
